For Dragon Fruit Flowers

It’s that season once again,
When queens queue in the end-May rain
Dressed in gowns of silvery white,
Beaming beneath the moon’s cool light.

They pave the path for fiery beasts,
Who’ll celebrate their bloom in feast.
Come end of June, when the world is lush,
These queens will make the dragons blush.

And till that time, the dragons grow
The mighty things that fire blow.
Their queens announce their coming near
One night of glory, then disappear.
